This band cuts deep, leaving us bloodied with pleasure.
We’ve been eager to do a Session with these guys for ages. And meanwhile, Cuchillo, Spanish for knife, has grown. The group is no longer the duet of Israel Marcos and Daniel Domínguez, but a trio. With Henrik Agren on the keys, and, for special occasions like this one, even a quartet when Rhys Pyefinch steps in on sax.
Cuchillo sucks us into an ever-expanding world of boundless psychedelia and hypnotic architecture. One minute they’re here, the next they’re receding into a diaphanous mirage.
“Navega” is the tune the band decided to perform for this session, a mystical/musical meandering of sorts and a veritable treat for fine-tuned ears.
Watch you don’t cut yourself on this Cuchillo. They’re awful sharp.
